SUMMER IN NEW YORK

If you have just arrived in town, you might feel excited about all the activities and how alive New York City feels. I remember taking the C train a week ago when a mother-daughter duo from Minnesota told me how vibrant the city was and how the daughter was planning to return for graduate school. It was her 1st time in town. They were curious and were having fun. When I shared with her that I can now call myself a New Yorker - which the vox populi says is after 10 years of continuous residence- She wanted to know if I could recommend them good places to visit.

The first place that came to mind was the new building at the Natural History Museum. The new facility has at least 4 great exhibitions considered immersion experiences. The architecture is unique, very modern, and has at least 2 places to grab lunch. The weekends are, of course, the busiest. Avoid going then if you can.

The other recommendation I gave was to visit the Cloisters Museum located in Fort Tryon Park. If you've read my previous post, you may notice the name. That museum is specialized in religious art, as well as beautiful views of the Hudson. Personally, my favorite part is the Mozarabe patio. It has a large fountain in the middle. It's an excellent piece of art by itself and a great spot to be in silence when there aren't many visitors. Once you finish the tour, you will still have the rest of Fort Tryon Park to explore. The A Subway train stops by the entrance at 190th.

I wonder if the visitors took my suggestions...If you have yet to visit either place, I invite you to go and add the experiences to your memories.

I hope you get to spend a fabulous summer in New York City. If you choose to stay in town, remember Upper Manhattan is a great option to make home, and we at Sovereign Associates will be happy to assist you. Give us a call.
