Sophia Burdett Massage Therapist
20 Magaw Place
New York, NY 10033

To the best of my knowledge, most people love getting a massage. They’re relaxing, they reduce anxiety, and they allow you to be in tune with your body and mind. Unfortunately, at many places each client receives the same treatment and the lack of personal touch that is necessary for a truly amazing experience. Sophia Burdett has made it her mission to make each client experience individual for that person. She focuses on learning about the client and their body; What hurts? Where do you feel tight? Have you had any recent injuries? Etc. As she told me, her goal is to make “real positive change in your body and help you feel happier and healthier in the long run.”

Sophia’s background in philosophy and dance both led her on a path to being a massage therapist. She mentions that she was not keen on following either of these paths specifically. However, her personality and inquisitive mind, as well as a supportive sister, led her to the path of massage therapy. This led her to study at The Swedish Institute, one of the top massage therapy schools in New York City. She developed skill for nearly a dozen different types of massage therapy and has become an expert in her field.

Sophia’s philosophy for massage therapy differs from many other massage therapists and differentiates her from all spas and massage practices. She has experience working in spas and notes that her practice offers something more personal and targets treatment of pain or discomfort rather than just offering a place to zone out. She is passionate about “educating people about their bodies and what may be going wrong in them, why that may be happening, and ways in which to help reverse or prevent future discomfort or injury.”

Sophia’s determination to help heal people and provide them with a happier lifestyle reflects who she is as a person. She told me that her desire in life has always been to find a career in which she can help people. She has demonstrated excellence in being able to enhance people’s lives and patients will testify to that fact. Lori B. says, “Sophia's thorough understanding of anatomy, her ability to impart useful information, and the wisdom in her healing hands makes her one of the very best massage therapists I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I suffered for months with pain and burning in my shoulders (I was a MESS!) and after one session I began to feel relief, after three my pain was gone. I love her!”

Take it from her satisfied clients, Sophia is one of the best massage therapists in the area. With the help of her impressive education and her attitude towards her field, Sophia will be one of the best investments you make for your body and your life.
