Bakeries often have a way of making us feel at home, at least for me they do. I think it’s because of the wafting scent of fresh bread and croissants which reminds me of an early morning on Christmas or waking up on my birthday to a special treat. My treat usually comes from a staple of the Upper West Side, Silver Moon Bakery. This bakery opened up its storefront 17 years ago on 105th and Broadway and has since garnered international attention. As one of the first artisanal bakeries to open on the Upper West Side it attracted attention from countless publications such as the New York Times and Harper's Bazaar and Silver Moon became recognized as a small, yet mighty bakery, with an impressive holiday menu!

My family has been going to this bakery since it opened and I can say that it has never once faltered in quality. They make amazing products and make fun goodies for every holiday. One of their most famous breads is their challah, which gets shipped nationwide. My personal favorite are their chocolate chip cookies. There huge and filled with chocolate chips. They can definitely be shared but if you’re up for a challenge then I suggest grabbing a big cup of milk before sitting down to chow down. I would also recommend their rustic baguettes. One bite and it feels as though you’ve been transported to a picnic under the Eiffel Tower.

This bakery is one of the best I’ve ever tasted and we are so lucky to have it right in our neighborhood. Don’t skip this stop when exploring Manhattan, but I warn you, once you go you won’t be able to stop.
