SEPTEMBER 11th 2023

September 11,2023 | By Sovereign Associates |

This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist attacks in the United States on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the crash of UA Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. Each year on 9/11 in New York, the September 11th, 2001 victims are remembered. It is not a national holiday but a deeply emotional and traumatic one for many people.

The focus of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum remains the annual commemoration ceremony. Family members of the victims have once again been invited to participate in this year's reading of the names. They will gather on the Memorial Plaza to remember their loved ones.

During the commemoration, six moments of silence will be observed. The first will commence at 8:30 a.m. Houses of worship are encouraged to toll their bells, and victims' families will begin reading the names of their loved ones lost. The ceremony will conclude at approximately 1:00 p.m. Timing is subject to change.

The Tribute in Light, with its beams of light shining into the night sky, will return to Lower Manhattan as a tribute to all who were killed on 9/11.

The lights will be on beginning at sunset on September 11 and will fade away at dawn on September 12. There is no formal program.
