Restaurant Week To Go: Upper West Side

January 26,2021 | By Sovereign Associates |

NYC Restaurant Week is back this winter, adapted for the ongoing COVID pandemic. Temporarily renamed ‘NYC Restaurant Week To Go’, the much beloved food bash launched on Monday, January 25, and will run through Sunday, January 31, 2021. This year’s participating restaurants are offering lunch and dinner takeout and delivery for a discounted price of $20.21.

This year, there are 541 participating restaurants, 41 of which are on the Upper West Side –that’s almost double the number of neighborhood participants from a year ago! In fact, this year’s event has set a new record for participating restaurants. According to the NY Post, the previous record was set during the summer of 2017 when 391 restaurants signed on. This can at least partially be attributed to NYC & Company, the agency behind the event, which has waived its fees this year to encourage more eateries to participate. These fees are typically $2,800 for Manhattan restaurants and $1,500 for those located in the outer boroughs.

NYC Restaurant Week has taken place twice per year since it was founded in 1992, although the summer 2020 event was cancelled due to the pandemic. Thankfully, it’s back this winter even if it’s online delivery only. Let’s hope it gives people some cheer and puts some extra money in the pockets of restaurant owners and employees who’ve struggled over the past several months.
