Morningside Heights is an area that is generally considered to include the areas south of 125^th Street, west of Amsterdam Ave., north of 110^th Street and extends west to the Hudson River.

The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission recently created the Morningside Heights Historic District, which includes 115 residential and institutional properties. This designation allows for the preservation of properties, most of which were built between 1900 and 1910 and will allow the area to retain is charm and historic relevance.
