NYC Soccer Academy

During the summer, most of us aren’t as lucky as kids who get an extended break between June and September to hang out outside and play with their friends. Since most of us work during that period, we’ve got do something with the kids! I highly recommend sending your kids to NYC Soccer Academy. Camp is held at the Columbia University Baker Athletic Complex and is run by the head coaches of the Columbia University soccer coaches. Along with these coaches are tons of local soccer lovers who act as coaches for different age groups (ages 6 18).

The staff here are great people. They are super accommodating and willing to try and work with everyone on their individual situation. The workers are all people who love soccer and may who play or have played in college. The kids are split into groups based on age and spend the mornings working on technical skills and ?the afternoons playing soccer games. The younger kids sometimes get treated on super-hot days with the chance to play in the sprinklers.

I attended this camp for years as a kid and always had an amazing time. They always accommodate the players’ skill level and try to make sure every camper is having fun and playing at the right level. You pay per week so it is super flexible if you go on vacation or have other camps to send your kids to.

One of the best things about NYC Soccer Academy is the access to state of the art facilities, thanks to the generosity of Columbia University. Another awesome perk is the snack bar available at lunch! While many campers opt to bring their own lunch, they can also buy pizza, a little snack, or a beverage at the snack bar. Overall, this was my favorite camp to go to when I was growing up (and my parents made my try a lot of them). Even if I would not go for a year or two I would always end up finding myself back at NYC Soccer Academy on a consistent basis.
