Marshalls

It is more than likely that at some point or another, you’ll find yourself in need of the services of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The Port Authority operates and maintains critical transportation and trade networks of all sorts including aviation, rail, and surface transport, throughout the NY/NJ region. Right by the majestic George Washington Bridge, which connects Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood with the borough of Fort Lee in New Jersey, is a relatively newly renovated Port Authority bus terminal (finished in 2017).

Marshalls opened up a store in GWB Bus Terminal in September 2017. They were the first retailer to open since the terminal ended its renovations in May of that same year. The project was a huge undertaking with renovations estimated to be $183 million dollars and just one year to complete, but it took three years and a total of $200 million! But back to Marshalls and some great initiatives. Marshalls kept their promise from when they first announced their new location in the terminal and hired from within the community. Keeping in line with its support of the community, Marshalls even pledged $10,000 to Fresh Youth Initiatives, a nonprofit focused on empowering youth in Washington Heights and their COMPASS program which helps prepare students at Gregorio Luperon High School prepare for college. The retail store also created a mural design contest for the youth in the surrounding neighborhood. The winner’s design was displayed across a four-story building on St. Nicholas Ave and 173rd - it's close by, check it out!

"Our newest store in Washington Heights will offer an ever-changing selection of high-quality, on-trend and brand-name merchandise at the amazing prices that Marshalls is known for. Our buyers search the globe to discover the best in every department, and we're excited to bring those finds to a new neighborhood," Tim Miner, president of Marshalls, said in a statement.

This statement is not just talk, folks- Marshalls offers pretty much anything your thrifty heart could desire from jewelry, fashion, home décor, and so much more. In fact, now’s the perfect time to get some much needed, highly affordable winter clothing plus Halloween and Christmas decorations!
